New Guinea Impatiens
'Sun-Kissed' Impatiens walleriana
This is the New Guinea Impatiens Sun-Kissed, featuring glowingorange long-spurred blooms atop
colorful variegated foliage. A reddish-pink midvein is flanked by lemon yellow, all framed in deep green.
Further adding to 'Sun-Kissed's charm, stems
and petioles are enhanced with a bold red tinge. Very floriferous, the plant readily produces axillary
branches consisting of up to a dozen flower buds and no leaves (look up arrow on the bottom photograph to see an example).
Photographs on the left show the true, "orange-like-the-fruit" color of this cultivar. See the beautiful contrast
with carmine garden impatiens, and below, to the "orange" variety of garden impatiens.
Easy to grow, I. walleriana 'Sun-Kissed' thrives in ordinary tropical plant soil. Pinch out the
growing tips to produce branching. Flower size is 4.5-5 cm. Dislikes full sun and loves water. It responds well to fertilizer. When grown indoors in Canada,
reduce watering and place in a sunny window during winter. Stem cuttings root easily.
