New Guinea Impatiens
'Grovestand' Impatiens walleriana
This is the New Guinea Impatiens Grovestand, featuring glowing orange long-spurred blooms atop
light green foliage. An unusual white heart adds an exotic touch.
Photographs on the left show the true, "orange-like-the-fruit" color of this cultivar. See the beautiful contrast
with red garden impatiens, and on the photograph below, with the smaller-flowered variegated cultivar 'Sun-Kissed.'
Extremely vigorous and easy to grow, I. walleriana 'Grovestand' thrives in ordinary tropical plant soil. Pinch out the
growing tips to produce branching. Flowers are large: 5.5-6 cm. Dislikes full sun and loves water. It responds well to fertilizer. When grown indoors in Canada,
reduce watering and place in a sunny window during winter. Stem cuttings root easily.
The blooms have a strong tendancy to produce multiple multiple spurs, as shown in the lowermost photograph.
