Colibri Upside-Down Goldfinch Feeder
Yule Hyde's Colibri Upside-Down Goldfinch Feeder features seed ports that
are below the perches, rather than above them, allowing only agile birds such as
goldfinches and the occasional black-capped chickadee to feed. Sparrows, an introduced
species responsible for the decline of many North American natives that is fond
of expensive thistle (nyjer or niger) seed, are not able
to use upside-down tube feeders.
Importantly, the Colibri Upside-Down Goldfinch Feeder has metal
perches. Squirrels can ignore thistle feeders with plastic perches for a long time,
then inexplicably go on a rampage and chew off every plastic perch in sight in a matter
of minutes, resulting in sudden stress to the birds if this goes un-noticed for
a period of time.
The Colibri Upside-Down Goldfinch Feeder also features a pagoda-style cap that
is attractive and while helping to keep the seeds dry.
